Why not? Wednesday, March 31

(Source: weheartit ♥)
Good morning lovelies! It's the last day of March, ayee! For this Wednesday, why don't you switch your look up a bit? Wear something that's been hiding at the back of your closet? Try out that hat you think makes you look silly? (It probably doesn't!) How about a necktie, or overly-fancy shoes? Let's force this month out with a bang! Whatever you choose, have a wonderful day! ♥ ♥ ♥

Movie Review - Where The Wild Things Are

Hello lovelies! Last night I watched Where The Wild Things are! Because I'm like, super lazy, Wikipedia has a pretty good plot synopsis, if you don't know what it's about.
Amazingly, I actually really liked the movie. I don't know why, but usually I don't like movies (I'd much rather read a book, or go out and have my own adventures!). It was really sweet! I've never read the book though, so I'm not sure how close it carries to the original plot line. The director definitely captured a sense of adventure in it! It made me recall when I was younger and used to imagine crazy things (nothing that amazing, though!). I also thought the soundtrack was really amazing. It is done by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, and it carries a very mystical and imaginative quality. The only thing I was iffy about was the ending- I'm not going to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but I felt that it was a little weak. And also, in the beginning, I felt an overwhelming urge to smack Max and ground him for life. Maybe I just don't have a tolerance for bratty, misbehaving children? But really, if my kid was wrestling my dog and making huge messes in his sister's room and breaking things and yelling... well, let's just say there would be no chocolate cake and happy endings! Haha.
Anyways, if you haven't seen it already, I would say that it's definitely worth watching! And coming from me, that's probably a lot. (I pretty much only watch three movies- Super Troopers, The Doors, and the first half of Romeo and Juliet. I'm picky, alright?) Have you seen it? What did you think? ♥ ♥ ♥

PS: Don't forget to enter the giveaway! It's open until Friday (I'll be choosing a winner at like, 9:00pm!) Good luck lovelies! ♥

Mishelle's Super Giveaway #1!

Okay! After much searching, I have compiled the stuff for my giveaway. There is a total of four prizes to be given away! Yeah! So the loot we have here is...

Yes, there you have it! One of these packages could be yours! Just make sure you're following the blog, and leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite color, and why! You can gain extra entries if you either tweet or blog about this giveaway, just leave a separate comment for each to make sure that I count them. The giveaway will be open until Friday, April 2, at which point I will put all the entries in a hat and draw them that way. In fairness of others, the limit is one prize per person! Because shipping is totally ridiculous, I'm making this available to North American residents only. (Sorry, everyone else!)

Good luck to everyone, and have an awesome weekend! ♥ ♥ ♥

Oh. Em. Geee!

HEY LOOK AT THAT! 20 real live people actually read this blog! That is like, super amazing and awesome and fills me with joy. So, to celebrate this, I will be going home (in about an hour) and rooting around to find stuff for the giveaway! I think, as far as giveaways go, for such a small blog it's going to be pretty huge. Maybe. I still don't know how much shipping boxes is, haha! Either way. BE EXCITED!

Feck Yeah, Friday! - March 26

Source: Keri Smith (Via Gala Darling) ♥

Hello lovelies! It's finally Friday, yippie! Today is an excellent day to think of things that make you happy to be alive! I'm grateful for my wonderful Mommy, loving boyfriend, quirky friends, and my kitties! I'm really glad that my concert/mexi-hoodie adventure turned out alright (with the exception of Zack having an asthma attack at the concert, boo!), and that so far my Chem course is going well. We're almost done!
AH! The Tech N9ne concert was really fun! All the performers were really good (I really liked The Scale Breakers and Broken Logic) and Tech N9ne totally blew me awaaaaaay! Gah. Super cool. I didn't bring a camera, but it didn't really matter because there were so many tall people everywhere! That snapshot up there is one that Zack took on his phone. I think it was when the Scale Breakers were performing. I wore my brand-new Mexi-hoodie all night! Apparently they're actually called Baja's or something like that, pah. It kept me very cozy and warm.
Anyways, what are you stoked for? You've gotta be stoked about something, because Feck Yeah! It's Friday!

Everybody likes Presents!

Good day, lovelies! I just got back from downtown (thrifting again, heh) and I picked up a couple things for some giveaways that I'm planning! I'm going to wait until I have 20 followers (wait, 21 because Zack is following me twice!) and then I'm going to make a few packages of similarly awesome stuff for you to win! So far I've got some ridiculous records, radical VHS tapes, a whole bunch of random trinkets, and each package will get a hand-written letter, from me! Just what you've always wanted! It will be open to readers in North America only (Sorry, everyone else! The packages are probably going to be hefty and shipping is fairly costly.) So, don't be shy! Click that "Follow" button, and tell your friends! And most importantly, have a wonderful day! ♥ ♥ ♥

Why not? Wednseday, March 24

Photo credit from VeganYumYum, who have recipes for vegan pancakes if you're interested!
Good morning lovelies? Today, why not try making some pancakes from scratch? I think they're delicious!
You will need:
3/4 cup Flour
1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
1/2 tbsp Sugar
1/2 cup of Milk
1 tbsp Oil
2 Eggs

Simply mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then add the wet ingredients. Mix together. Set your stove to medium heat (that's about 4 for me!). Spray the frying pan with non-stick spray (we use Canola Oil), and spoon the batter into the pan. When you start seeing bubbles come through the batter, it's time to flip 'em! I find this recipe makes enough for two people, if you need more, simply double it!

I like to fancy them up by adding things like cinnamon, brown sugar and apples, or pieces of banana and chocolate chips, or just fresh berries! I throw them in when I am mixing the batter.

Have a great day, lovelies! Enjoy! ♥ ♥ ♥

Musical Monday - March 22

Hey lovelies! How are you this fine Monday morning? I've decided that if I implement weekly features on my blog, then I'll probably feel motivated to post more often (because, like, my readers will be depending on me to brighten their days! HAH!). So, here's my first weekly segment: Musical Monday! Because who doesn't want to start the nastiest day of the week with some cheerful tunes? For this Monday, I have decided upon...
No Doubt -Underneath It All

Partially because I can't think of anything else (I was running late earlier in the morning, I really did intend to post this before 8:00!) and because as soon as I sat down at my computer it started to play in my head. So there you go! Have an amazing week, my dears, and I will be back soon! ♥ ♥ ♥

Hoarding.

Hey lovelies! Right now I am stuck in a boring-storm! I blame it on my lovely boyfriend because he's working in Vancouver and I don't get to see him until mid-next week! Augh!
Anyways, other than working and school and staring at my Tumblr dashboard into the wee hours of the morn, I haven't done much. Other than go thrifting! I think I have a problem. This is what I took home last time:
Actually, that's kind of a lie- the holster and the fold-out camera came from my oh-so-generous uncle! But the other stuff, clockwise from upper right, is: an old-school photography book, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day and Think Pink on cassette (I saw a cool tutorial on how to turn cassettes into coin purses! I can't wait to try!), FernGully, a Kodak Ektralite 500, a vintage leather gun holster (needs some work, oh well! Still badass!), um a piece of my camera strap in the bottom corner, a really cute Garfield keychain, a very moldy Neil Young guitar songbook, and an Agfa Ventura 69! I don't know why, but I really adore old cameras.
Oh, I also picked up this framed poster:
I think it's really neat! Apparently when my mom was a teenager in the 1970's she was a Greenpeace member. I am so jealous- I wish I could have grown up in the late 60's to early 70's!
I also finally found the antiques store in my town. Oh. My. God. I think I experienced a thriftgasm. I was determined to not leave empty handed so I got this weird (yet cute) hat, apparently from the early 1950's:
I totally dig the veil. It makes me feel mysterious. Unfortunately whenever I wear it my mom calls me "Aunt Lil" because apparently it is something that my great-aunt Lilian would have an interest in. My mom says that Aunt Lil was a bitch; I think she had great taste in hats.
My cat seems rather unimpressed that there's loot all over her spot. Silly cat!
Anyways, that's about all I can think about sharing for now. Actually, maybe I'll give you a couple songs to listen to today! I'm on a soft-rock bender right now, and ack! I just found out that Tom Petty is playing in Vancouver this summer- and we couldn't get tickets! My bff and her family did though. So jealous!
Pearl Jam - Harvest Moon
Tom Petty - Yer So Bad
Neil Young - Old Man
Counting Crows - Mr. Jones (AHAHA THE SINGER CAN NOT DANCE!)

Why don't you...

Little me, aged 13~ aweee! With my BFF

Hey lovelies, happy Monday!  How are you? I am still super tired from the time change, waah! I really should be having a nap right now! But first, I would like to share some fun suggestions to brighten your day!

♥ Bake something yummy? I am totally cookingly-handicapped, but the other night I made butterscotch chip cookies, and they were actually really good!

♥ Spend some time with some pets? Even if you don't have any of your own, your local animal shelter probably appreciates volunteer dog walkers or cat groomers!

♥ Listen to some old CD's or tapes? I always laugh so hard at the music I liked three, four, or five years ago! I bet this will be really amusing when I am older!

♥ Go through your closet? I just weeded through my dresser and found a huge pile of clothes that just don't fit right, or make me feel happy anymore. I do have a special bin full of cool clothing that I'm saving for my offspring, of which I put all my band tee's, favorite pants, and really awesome shoes!

♥ Paint a picture? Even if you have no faith in your artistic abilities, just give it a shot! Bonus points if you give it to a friend later.

♥ Just chill out? Grab your favorite snacks, get in some comfy clothes, and watch your favorite TV show or movie!

♥ Call up a friend? Find someone to share your Monday miseries with! I guarantee it will make it much nicer.

♥ And finally, did you know that today is International Nap Day? Because that is totally my next course of action. Comfy couch, here  I come!

Here's some music that I used to enjoy when I was younger! Hee hee!

The Offspring - Why Don't You Get a Job
Bowling for Soup - Girl All The Bad Guys Want
American Hi-Fi - Flavor of the Weak
Blink 182 - First Date

Have a great Monday, lovelies! ♥ ♥ ♥

Total Girl Crush.

Hello my lovelies! I was just laying in bed procrastinating my sleep when I realized that I really should share my massive girl-crush of right now! Motherfucking KIMYA DAWSON. Seriously, I can't get enough of her! Her voice is so wonderful and sweet and I kind of really want to go on a picnic with her and look at clouds and hold hands and talk about life. If you feel like it, go on over to her website at http://www.kimyadawson.com and in the mp3 section you can listen to a bunch of her recordings! I like them all, but my absolute favorites (at this point in time) would have to be I Like Giants and 12/26. But The Beer is really good too. Absolute. Adoration. And, she has a daughter named Panda. How amazing is that?! ♥ ♥ ♥

I'm still in bed.

Ah, what a lazy morning! I pretty much just rolled over, grabbed my laptop, and started my web browsing. Perfect! I think I might actually attempt to clean and organize my room today, it's gotten really messy! (My mom keeps threatening to put me on Hoarders. I'm a collector, mom, not a hoarder. GOD.)
Anyways, here, have a song!

Ahh.

Holy, that was quite a long gap for me to be away from my blog! I am so sorry, my wonderful readers! I think I am all better now, so I've got to get back into my routine. I'm about to begin a mini-rant about working in retail, so if you don't feel like reading that, then skip down a few paragraphs! ♥
Okay. Retail. Seriously? Cancer of the earth. I hate it so much! It's all profit-motivated, there's really no "doing it for the customer", unless you're doing it so the customer will spend more money. I swear to god, if I have to read one more memo with like, a thousand exclamation points and lame little clip-arts, I am going to ralph all over the break room (which, of course is covered in motivational posters of budget goals and "non-negotiables"). Don't get me wrong, the people I work with are amazing and the job itself isn't too bad at all... I guess it's just the concept I don't dig. /rant
On the bright side? I got a really awesome umbrella! See this, because I'm far too lazy to get it and take a picture (plus, it's bad luck to open one indoors, no?). I actually went thrifting the other day and got a lot of cool stuff. I found lots of tapes to listen to in the car (Vanilla Ice?! Fuck yeah!), a wide white pleather belt, a tunic that looks like it hopped right out of the Legend of Zelda universe, a Barbie and the Rockers VHS and Skate Fest '88, and some fabric which I have sewn into a cute little aprom! Lots of fun things to keep me busy.  Anyways, I should go eat some dinner! Catch ya later, lovelies! ♥♥♥
Et aussi: I really think it would be beneficial if I had some sort of weekly segment going on here.  What would you like to see on this blog? I am so totally open to suggestions. Just let me know in the comments!

Empty Bellies Do Not Beget Genius by Gala Darling
This article is amazing! It nearly brought me to tears. I myself have struggled for years with body image issues, so it really resonated for me. If you don't read Gala's website, I strongly recommend it! I started reading it when I was 16 (so, two years ago! Wow!), and I really believe it's made a huge impact on my life and the way I look at things. ♥ ♥ ♥
